Psalms 65 Metaphysical Bible Interpretation

Metaphysical Bible Interpretation of Psalms Chapter 65

Metaphysically Interpreting Psalms 65:1-13

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm. A song of David.

65:1Praise waiteth for thee,
    O God, in Zion;
    And unto thee shall the vow be performed.

65:2O thou that hearest prayer,
    Unto thee shall all flesh come.

65:3Iniquities prevail against me:
    As for our transgressions, thou wilt forgive them.

65:4Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee,
    That he may dwell in thy courts:
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house,
    Thy holy temple.

65:5By terrible things thou wilt answer us in righteousness,
    Oh God of our salvation,
Thou that art the confidence of all the ends of the earth,
    And of them that are afar off upon the sea:

65:6Who by his strength setteth fast the mountains,
    Being girded about with might;

65:7Who stilleth the roaring of the seas,
    The roaring of their waves,
    And the tumult of the peoples.

65:8They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens:
    Thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.

65:9Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it,
    Thou greatly enrichest it;
The river of God is full of water:
    Thou providest them grain,
    when thou hast so prepared the earth.

65:10Thou waterest its furrows abundantly;
    Thou settlest the ridges thereof:
Thou makest it soft with showers;
    Thou blessest the springing thereof.

65:11Thou crownest the year with thy goodness;
    And thy paths drop fatness.

65:12They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness;
    And the hills are girded with joy.

65:13The pastures are clothed with flocks;
    The valleys also are covered over with grain;
    They shout for joy, they also sing.

LESSON INTERPRETATION

What is the object of praise? The object of praise is to glorify, to extol, and to magnify.

Why do men praise the manifestations of God? By praise we glorify, extol, and magnify the manifestations of God, and thereby increase the things praised. God is omnipresent substance.

In our praise of God-substance, what should be the first movement of the mind? The first movement is to realize that God-substance is omnipresent, that it is the objective attribute of Being and that out of substance comes all manifestation.

What is the next movement of the mind in multiplying substance? The next movement is to give thanks that the thing desired is now expressed in all of its perfection, and that the intelligence of God is the soul of all substance.

What is the third movement of the mind? The third movement is to give thanks that the Divine Law is fulfilled in us and in all things.

How did Jesus state the law? Jesus said: “Seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

When we have fulfilled the law of the right relation of thought, what should we do? We should give thanks, and rest in the consciousness that the work is done. Then we should rejoice in every manifestation that appears in our affairs.

Can we praise material things in this way? In just the way that our senses would have us believe, there are no material things. All is mind and the ideas of mind. Consequently, we should realize, that we are praising ideas, and not material things.

What general rule of action should we adopt to bring about prosperity? We should make it a daily practice to praise all things that we want increased and improved, regardless of the appearance of their materiality and their limitations.

What evidence of God in nature have we before us on earth? The fertility of the soil, the supply of moisture to make it arable, the succession of the seasons with their appropriate harvests, and the beauty of nature. “The hills are girded with joy,” and life comes into being only as conditions are ripe for its maintenance and continuance. “Thy paths drop fatness.”
