Metaphysical meaning of Rhesa (mbd)
Rhesa, rhe'-så (Gk. fr. Heb.)--principle; head; chief; first; foremost; elder; former; sum; amount; metropolis; inclination; will; affection. Mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus Christ (Luke 3:27).

Meta. The will taking the lead, or first place, in consciousness (will, head, chief, first, foremost).

Rhesa expresses that which rules or enjoys by virtue of its own inherent movement; hence, the will. Taken in a negative sense this same independent movement will also characterize a venomous principle, evil, insidious desire, the source of evil, venom. Rhesa, taken in its negative sense, is the head of the serpent of Genesis 3:15.
