Metaphysical meaning of Laish (mbd)
Laish, la'-ish (Heb.)--kneaded together; crushing; adhering; well-knit; firm; strong; courageous; a lion.
a A man of Gallim, to whose son Saul gave his daughter Michal, David's wife (I Sam. 25:44). b A place in the northern part of Palestine that was conquered by the tribe of Dan and was included by them in their inheritance (Judg. 18:7, 29).
Meta. Courage, fearlessness, and strength (lion, firm, strong, courageous) brought about by a certain unification of thought (kneaded together, adhering, well-knit). Better judgment, however, is needed in the group of thoughts in consciousness that Laish represents, so that it may express constructively instead of destructively; thus it is conquered by the tribe of Dan (judgment) and comes into their possession.
