Metaphysical meaning of Er (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Er (mbd)
Er, er (Heb.)--awake; watchful; alert; watcher; watchman.

a Eldest son of Judah (Gen. 38:3). He was wicked and Jehovah slew him, according to Genesis 38:7. b A man named in the genealogy of Jesus Christ (Luke 3:28).

Meta. Observant, attentive, vigilant thoughts.

It matters a great deal what one watches, or gives attention to. If one persists in recognizing that which appears to be evil and error, one cannot obtain abiding life and good. We are transformed into the Christ likeness by beholding Him, not by taking cognizance of the lesser self with its seeming limitations. "If thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is the darkness!" (Matt. 6:23).
